He facilitates interdisciplinary research and creates opportunities for collaboration within Northwestern and extending to the national and international arenas. He generates resources and guides development of the research environment and infrastructure necessary for IBNAM's success.
Melina R. Kibbe, Deputy Director

Melina Kibbe provides leadership from both clinical and scientific perspectives to promote IBNAM's mission. She works with the Director on strategic development, with a special emphasis on creating new programs designed to foster connections between faculty based at the Feinberg School of Medicine, key collaborators at IBNAM, and other faculty based on the Evanston campus.

Kathy Burgess directs administrative functions and strategic program development. She serves as liaison to IBNAM members, University units, and external partners and oversees regulatory compliance, reporting requirements, and assists in grant seeking. She manages collaborative partnerships, including the IBNAM-Baxter Award programs and the Northwestern University-University of Gothenburg International Exchange program. She also directs the institute's communications, marketing, and outreach initiatives.

Rebekah Hastad provides financial and administrative support for the Institute. She manages the main office, assists with grant proposals, and processes financial transactions, including recharge billing for the IBNAM Core Facilities.

Sharon Jacknow manages IBNAM's financial and sponsored research activities. She is responsible for proposal submissions and manages budgeting, purchasing, payroll, visa applications, and all other financial activities at the institute.
Jill Johnson, Assistant to the Director

Jill Johnson provides administrative support for the Directors and facilitates communication with high-level internal and external contacts. She also coordinates IBNAM seminars and colloquia, meetings, itineraries for the Director and guests of the institute, and assists with many IBNAM communications, marketing, and outreach projects.
Alexandra Kolot, Laboratory, Equipment Core, and Cleanroom Manager

Alexandra Kolot manages the IBNAM Equipment Core Facility, the Nanomedicine Cleanroom, and maintains all laboratory facilities. She works with investigators, research personnel, staff, and vendors to solve operating problems and improve technical activities. She also oversees installation and maintenance of laboratory equipment and provides training for new users of the Equipment Core and Cleanroom.

Christina Newcomb manages the IBNAM Peptide Synthesis Core Facility. She provides peptide synthesis, purification, and mass spectrometry-based services for researchers at Northwestern and the local academic community, and provides training and consultation on related technical matters.

Christopher Tarczynski provides automated peptide synthesis and preparative HPLC Peptide Synthesis services. He also maintains stock reagents and supplies for the Peptide Synthesis Core Facility, provides new users with training about the HPLC column, and assists with training and instrument maintenance in the Equipment Core Facility.
